Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, he was a longtime resident of the Columbus, OH area, where he founded The Spring Works in 1981. He was an avid lover of antiques, golf, and the many bulldogs who became part of the family over the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Earl II and Edith Elizabeth (Runnette) Weil; and uncles Creighton Wilson Runnette and Robert Gray Runnette.
Edgar is survived by his wife, Myra; daughter Olivia Anne; and son Edgar Earl “Teddy” Weil IV; his longtime friend David Dick; aunts Peggy Runnette of Pittsburgh, PA and Christine Runnette of Troy, MI; cousins Grace R. Clark and Jane R. Byrnes of Pittsburgh, Barbara Runnette of Redondo Beach, CA, Johnny Runnette of Pasadena, CA, Lisa R. Edelstein of Thousand Oaks, CA, Sarah R. Sauers of Ann Arbor, MI, Martha Runnette (Michael Diana) of Westminster, CO, and A. Creighton Runnette II (Claudine) of Pittsburgh.
Services will be held privately.
Edgar will be laid to rest at The Homewood Cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA.
