Ellen Greenzalis Skelley, age 90, passed peacefully on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 in New Albany, Ohio. She was born November 19, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Thomas and Demetra (Christopoulos) Greenzalis. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard “Dick” Skelley; parents, Thomas and Demetra Greenzalis; brothers, John and William “Bill” Greenzalis.
Ellen grew up in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from North High School, later graduating from Ohio State University. After graduation, she worked for The Ohio Fuel Gas Company as a Betty Newton Home Service Advisor, a job she loved for several years. After marrying her husband, Dick Skelley, they moved to Urbana, Ohio to raise a family and build a successful business.
She loved all sports, but especially loved watching golf and tennis on TV. Ellen relished the time she had with her family and grandchildren. Watching her grandchildren grow into lovely, successful young adults was a source of great pride for her. Ellen will be missed by all who knew her. She was a strong and loving sister, daughter, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her sister, Gloria (Jim) Merkel; her children, Leah (Jeff) Sadler, Richard “Ric” (Pam) Skelley Jr., Dina (Peter) Luther; grandchildren, Justin (Madison) Sadler, Lauren Sadler, Eric Skelley, Emily Skelley ,Madison Luther, Pete Luther, and Grant Luther. A warm and loving “thank you” goes out to all the amazing care providers at The Avalon in New Albany. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
