It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Flora Marie Fisher, known by most as Marie (since she rarely told others her first name), who left us on March 26, 2026. Born on September 4, 1931, Marie has left a powerful legacy and will be remembered by all who were privileged to know her.
Marie was predeceased by her beloved parents, Levi and Ada (Heffley) Mason, by her husband Dale, her brother Floyd "Bud" Mason, and her sisters, Helen Jacobs and Betty Saint. Her spirit lives on in her son, David Fisher, her daughter-in-law, Rae Lynn Fisher, grandchildren Allyson (Steve) Foltz, Robert Fisher, Abbygail (Ryan) Conway, Reiland Fisher, Randall Fisher, Regginald Fisher, Annslee Fisher, and four great grandchildren. Her love for them unmatched.
Marie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She created a lovely home for family and friends. She enjoyed feeding everyone who walked through her door. Even in her last days while living in the in-law suite attached to her son’s house, she always tried to get the hospice workers to “take a little bite” of anything she had to offer. Until her health no longer allowed her, she would make over 5,000 cookies at Christmas to share with family and friends. Her homemade caramel corn was better than anything found in a store.
She loved a good bargain, even if she didn’t need the item. Old, discarded furniture (scavenged from trash piles) often gained new life as she patiently restored or refinished it.
Traveling with her husband and son, Marie was able to visit all 50 U.S. states.
For many years, she enjoyed a home garden where she planted vegetables and picked blueberries with her grandchildren. They could never get enough of her ham and bean soup or canned green beans, and played countless card games and board games with her.
A viewing for Marie will take place on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, 5-7:00 PM at Schoedinger Margarum Northeast in Gahanna, Ohio. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A few last words will be shared at her burial at 1:00 PM at Pleasant Cemetery in Mt. Sterling, Ohio.
The family would like to express our gratitude for the incredibly compassionate care provided by the Gentiva Hospice nurses, Josh, Rick, and Amy, social workers Maranda and Shaye, and chaplain Deidre.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to "The Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation" (www.alzinfo.org) or “Gentiva Hospice of Columbus” via the Gentiva Foundation (https://www.gentivahs.com/patient-and-family-resources/donate/)\. Your contributions will aid in continuing the fight against Alzheimer's, and will provide excellent care for those suffering from the disease.
