Harry Arthur Davis, known to family as Buddy, passed quietly at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio early on the morning of June 5, 2024. He had one last battle of perseverance with his daughter, who sat by his side for 12 hours before she conceded defeat. He was born on August 3, 1956 in Warren, PA to Raymond C. Davis and Janet P. Clever. After spending his early years in Mansfield, Ohio, he joined the Air Force and later served as an officer on the Ohio State Highway Patrol. He settled in Columbus where he took up his most important work, supporting his family in whatever way he could. After retiring from Honda of America where he worked 25 years, he spent his days taking drives to nowhere in particular, kept up with his lifelong mile a day swimming, and visited the people he cared about. He was incredibly generous and found great joy in being a father and grandfather. He has joined his son, Kevin James Davis, in the great beyond, and will be missed deeply by his daughter Erin Maureen Davis Brink and her husband Ryan, his ex-wife and friend Susan Kay, his step children Melody, Shalom, and Jesse, his daughter in law Kate Ruddy Davis and her partner Andy, his grandchildren Annabelle, Jade, Rylan, and Jacob, and his “Not my cat”, whom he called Honey.
Friends and family will gather on June 21 from 12pm-1pm, immediately followed by a 1pm celebration of life at Schoedinger Margarum Northeast in Gahanna. In lieu of flowers his daughter asks for live plants or to donate to Ark of Redemption, Cat Welfare Association, or your local cat rescue in honor of all the “not my cats” and the dads that love them.
