Born on September 23, 1942, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, he was the beloved son of William and Elizabeth Chaisson and cherished brother of Bill. Jack spent his early years in Sawanisit, Massachusetts, where he discovered his lifelong love of sailing, before moving with his family to Springfield. He graduated from American International College and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, completing his service in 1967.
That same year, Jack married the love of his life, Sherry Wipprecht, in Mystic, Connecticut. Together, they built a beautiful life, moving across the country for his career before settling in Dublin, Ohio, in 1985 to raise their two children, John and Suzanne. Jack spent the majority of his professional life as a financial planner specializing in tax-sheltered annuities with Travelers Insurance.
Jack’s happiest moments were often spent near the water. He never passed up an opportunity to sail, savor clam chowder, or enjoy a good lobster roll. Even after settling in landlocked Dublin, he found his way back to the water with a sailboat at Leatherlips Yacht Club—though he later admitted that nothing quite compared to sailing the open ocean. Over the years, his passions shifted to golf, a sport he embraced wholeheartedly. He also loved cheering on college football teams and watching NHL games every chance he could. He was deeply committed to his community and was proud of his service on the Dublin Chamber of Commerce, where he was honored as Business Leader of the Year. Jack and Sherry then moved to New Albany in 2015 to be closer to their grandchildren.
Jack is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Sherry, his daughter Suzanne Walker, son-in-law Michael, and his grandchildren Grace and Jack, who brought him immense joy. He is preceded in death by his beloved son, John, who passed away earlier this year after a courageous battle with cancer. We take comfort in knowing that father and son are reunited once again—likely sharing a beer and watching the Ohio State game.
Jack’s family warmly invites friends to join in a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 3:30–5:30 p.m. in their New Albany community, Windsor Bridge Clubhouse, 4150 Windsor Bridge Place, New Albany, Ohio. He will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery.
