James R. Hay

James was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine Hay and Robert Hay; his stepmother, Malvina Hay; his sister, Barbara O’Grady; and his brother, Gerald Hay.

He is survived by his children: Robbie (Jennifer) Hay, Michele (Kurt) Sexton, and Deanna Hay; grandchildren, Matthew (Emily) Hay, Mason Hay, Abigail Sexton, Adrianna Epling, and Nathan Epling; great-grandchild, Luca Hay. James is also survived by his brother-in-law, James O’Grady; his sister-in-law, JoAnn Hay; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A lifelong fan of all Cleveland sports, James especially loved cheering on the Cleveland Browns. He also enjoyed shooting pool with friends.

James earned his master’s degree from Cleveland State University and worked for many years as a salesman with Prudential Insurance. After retirement, he continued working in security at the Ramada Inn. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam War veteran.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
