With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James (Jim) Edward Warren, age 79, on November 30, 2024. A devoted father, grandfather, husband, and friend, Jim was a man whose life was defined by his love for family, unwavering faith, and commitment to serving both his country and his community. He was a man of strength, integrity, and joy, and his legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Born in Columbus, Ohio on April 24, 1945, Jim enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17, dedicating four years of his life to his country. His service was marked by courage, loyalty, and an unshakable sense of duty, traits that stayed with him throughout his life. After returning from his service, he began a career that would span decades, working as a skilled brickmason and eventually retiring as a Senior Crafts Fabricator from Battelle, where his work was respected and valued. He was also the proud owner of Warren Properties LLC. His talent and dedication to his craft left a lasting impact on those who worked with him.
While he was a hardworking man who built his life through sweat and skill, it was his role as a father that defined him most. He raised his three daughters—Shirlene, Tammy and Renee—with love, sacrifice, and dedication. As a single father, he navigated the challenges of raising his girls with grace, always putting their needs and happiness first. His guidance, wisdom, and unwavering love shaped them into the women they are today, and he was their greatest champion.
Jim was also a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Angie Smith. Together, they shared 9 of marriage, a partnership rooted in love, faith, and mutual respect. Their life together was built on a strong foundation of shared values, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. Their bond was unbreakable, and Angie was by his side until the very end, supporting him with the same strength and care that he had always shown his family.
Faith was the cornerstone of Jim’s life. A devout Christian, he carried the love of God in his heart, living his life as a quiet example of humility, kindness, and grace. Whether he was working, fishing, or enjoying time with his family, his faith guided every aspect of his life.
In his spare time, Jim loved nothing more than listening to 1950s music. He had a passion for the classic tunes of that era, and he could often be found dancing with his wife Angie or sharing his favorite songs with his daughters and grandchildren. The rhythms of the 50s brought him joy, and his love for music and dancing became one of the many ways he showed his zest for life. He passed that love on to those around him, and his joyful spirit will always be remembered in the melodies that filled his home.
Jim also found peace in nature, especially through fishing. A true outdoorsman he found solace and reflection in the simplicity of nature. Fishing was a passion he shared with his children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories that will be cherished for generations. Jim was particularly fond of vacationing at the beach. The sound of the ocean, the warmth of the sun, and the feeling of sand between his toes brought him great happiness. The beach was a place where he could truly unwind, reflect, and create lasting memories.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Angie; his three daughters, Shirlene(Jeff) Stiles, Tammy(Alan) Galloway, and Renee(Eric) Whitney; his cherished grandchildren, Sammy(Sev), Sarah, Rachael and Natalie Wirth; Alajah, Areana, and Azavia Galloway; Kaleb(Haylee), and Clayton Walker; and 6 great grandchildren; as well as his stepchildren, Monica(Gary) Cook, and Adam Smith, step grandchildren, Shalyn(Joe) Warren, Dr. Gary Cook, Zayne(Rachel) Cook, and 3 step great grandchildren and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
James Edward Warren was a man who lived a life full of love, joy, and purpose. He was a father who cared deeply for his daughters, a husband who adored his wife, and a grandfather whose warmth and wisdom will never be forgotten. His love for music, dancing, and the simple joys of life will continue to inspire all who knew him.
May God bless you, Jim, and may you rest in eternal peace. Your legacy of faith, love, and joy will live on forever in the hearts of your family, and we will always remember you with love and gratitude.
"Until we meet again, Dad, may the music play on in our hearts, and may the waves of the beach carry you home."
