
James Edward Winn, most commonly known as Jim, of New Albany, Ohio, was born on February 3, 1934 in Columbus, Ohio to the late James Ames and Margaret (Buckham) Winn, the fifth child of six. He passed away peacefully at Saint Ann’s Hospital on September 12, 2022, after a brief illness.
Jim served his country in the United States Army. He then moved on to work as a tool and dye maker, and pipe fitter for 38 years before retiring from Lucent Technologies. He was a past member of the New Albany Lions Club as well as a former volunteer for the Plain Township Fire Department. Jim was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Tri-Community Memorial Post 4719 in Gahanna where he served with the color guard. He also enjoyed racing go-karts, woodworking, chain saw sharpening, MOPAR, and spending time with friends at the VFW.
Survivors include his daughters Janet (David) Howard, Dana (James) Julian, and Sally Winn-Bauer; grandchildren Jacob Julian, Shelby Bauer, John Howard, Daniel Howard, and Jenna Julian.
A graveside funeral service for James Edward Winn, 88, formerly of New Albany, will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be observed by the Army and Gahanna VFW Post 4719.
