

Janet Grace Washburn, 77, of Pickerington, Ohio, went into the presence of her Savior on August 10, 2025. Born on August 22, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio, Janet was the beloved daughter of the late Benjamin Wilson Staley and Eva Mae Elizabeth Lawhorn.
A graduate of Vandalia Butler High School, Janet went on to lead a fulfilling life centered around faith, family, and service. She worked as an assistant manager at Lifeway Christian Bookstore, formerly known as The Christian Armory.
Janet was a devoted member of New Life Church in Gahanna, Ohio since 1986. She faithfully served as an Awana leader, sang in the church choir, and helped organize the cookie ministry. Her dedication to her church and community was unwavering.
She found joy in gardening, playing games, and spending time with family and friends. She was a devoted Ohio State Buckeyes fan, proudly cheering them on through every season.
Janet was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ronald Washburn; her parents, Benjamin Wilson Staley and Eva Mae Elizabeth Lawhorn; and her grandparents, Raymond T. and Helen M. Doggett.
She is survived by her children, Brian Washburn (Susan) and Kimberly Newman (Matthew); her grandchildren, Holly Carter, Julianne Morrow (Alex), Austin Washburn, Logan Washburn, Travis Mullins, Trevor Mullins, and Kali Mullins; and her great-grandchild, Bexley Morrow. She is also survived by her brother, Todd Staley (Tanja); nephew, Nico Staley; numerous cousins; and her cherished dog, Bella.
Janet will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and recent great-grandmother who cherished time spent with family and friends above all else. Her sweet spirit and gentle presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A cherished memory for her family is how Janet made every holiday, especially Christmas and birthdays, feel truly special. Her meaningful traditions and caring spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
A visitation will be held Friday, August 15, 2025, from 10:00am-12:00pm at New Life Church, 3690 N Stygler Rd, Gahanna, OH 43230 followed by a service beginning at 12:00pm. Services will conclude with a graveside service at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5600 E Broad St, Columbus, OH 43213. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made, if possible, to Capital City Hospice, 2800 Corporate Exchange Dr, Suite 170, Columbus, OH 43231
