

Gerald (Jerry) William Neal II, age 56 of Columbus, passed away on April 4, 2023. He was born February 9, 1967 in Lorain, Ohio. He grew up in Lorain, Ohio with his parents and sisters. Jerry married his best friend Mallory and the two celebrated 15 years together on February 15th. Jerry’s greatest pride was his two daughters and the time they spent together. He loved seeing and playing with his two grandsons, Flint and Atlas.
He was passionate about education and graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Business in 2021 and a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Phoenix in 2022. He was an ordained minister. He served in the U.S. Army and attended language school for French. Jerry worked in the restaurant industry most of his life. While he lived in Chillicothe he worked at the Patrick’s Pub, where he met many of his dear friends. Most recently he managed Dirty Frank’s Hot Dog Palace in Columbus, Ohio. He is fondly remembered for his humor, wit, and sarcasm.
Jerry was many things in life, but one of the most important things was being a baked good aficionado. He also loved ice cream and ran his own ice cream truck called the Jamaican Snowball. He was an ultra-nerd, as he loved anything science fiction, going to Renaissance Festivals, and all things Marvel. He was an avid player of Ultima Online for over 20 years. He also had a lifelong love of music and attended many concerts over the years. Jerry enjoyed spending quality time with his family and he loved to travel and be outside. He loved animals, naming and feeding the cats in his neighborhood.
Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Walter Szefcyk.
He is survived by his wife, Mallory Neal (Napier); daughters, Sydney (Robbee) Wallace of Chillicothe, OH and Aidan Neal of Louisville, KY; mother, Judy (Westfall) Szefcyk of Amherst, OH; sisters, Denise (Jose) Cabrera of Elyria, OH and Kim (Dan) Jasinski of Vermillion, OH; grandsons, Flint and Atlas Wallace; father-in-law, Steve Napier and mother-in-law, Robin Napier of North Royalton, OH; sister-in-law Amanda Napier of North Royalton, OH; along with his nieces and nephews; bonus kids, Michael Wyrick, Riley Hughes and Eden (Caleb) Smith; dear friends, Stacey and Patty Harley, Matthew and Cheyenne Steele, Kevin and Colleen Vordemeche, Stephen Friend, The Schneiders, Michael Christopher, Megan and Casey Kenney, and Judy Bartee.
Friends may gather at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH, 43230, on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 1PM-3PM, funeral service to begin at 3PM, with a reception to follow.
