Jessica Rene’ Coleman, beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, in her hometown of Houston, Texas, at the age of 36. Born on January 16, 1989, in Houston, Jessica lived a life marked by grace, resilience, and a deep love for her family and community.
Jessica was the beloved daughter of Gary and Vanessa Powers of Old River, Texas. She graduated from Barbers Hill High School in 2008. She continued her education at the Rochester Institute of Technology/NTID in New York and later earned an Associate’s Degree in Digital Marketing and Photography from Franklin University in Ohio.
Jessica loved learning and helping others. She worked for six years at Keepsake Quilts later, she worked at the Ohio School for the Deaf, where she was known as a kind, caring, and inspiring teacher and coworker.
Jessica had a vibrant spirit and zest for life. She loved deer hunting, painting, riding four-wheelers, and most of all, spending quality time with her husband Josh and their daughters, Bayleigh and Amelia. She was the very definition of a devoted mother—present, encouraging, and selfless. Even after long hospital stays, she would drive hours just to cheer Bayleigh on at a volleyball game. Her love knew no limits.
Jessica also had a special bond with her nieces and nephew. She loved them dearly and always looked forward to visiting them in Texas or welcoming them to Ohio. Spending time with them brought her so much joy, and she cherished every moment they shared together.
Jessica faced a two-year battle with melanoma with incredible strength and grace. She never asked “Why me?” Instead, she shared her journey openly, inspiring others through her words, her courage, and her unwavering faith. She often reminded others, “Cancer is only going to be a chapter in my life, not my whole story.” That story, full of love, laughter, and perseverance, touched countless lives.
Those who knew Jessica describe her as a light in the lives of many—a sweet soul who found humor in almost everything, a shoulder to lean on, and someone who consistently put others before herself. Her joy, positivity, and strength were infectious. She was a wonderful teacher, a loyal friend, and a loving member of her family. Heaven has truly gained a precious angel.
Jessica leaves behind her loving husband, Josh Feasel of Newark, Ohio; her daughters, Bayleigh A. Coleman and Amelia Feasel; her parents, Gary and Vanessa Powers; her brother, Gary L.
