

Joan Scharlott, 93, of New Albany, passed away on September 28, 2025. She was born on April 18, 1932, in Parma, Ohio to Harold and Helen Schuchard. She spent 75 years of her life in the Cleveland area, then relocated to New Albany, Ohio to be closer to her family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Joan will be remembered for her warm heart, her devotion to those she loved, and her remarkable spirit that touched everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by all that had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her spouse, Frederic Scharlott, and her children: David (Lisa) Scharlott of Johnstown, OH, Denise (Al) Hackley of Westerville, OH, Jaclyn (Rich) Haight of Carroll, OH, and Gregory Scharlott of Powell, OH. Joan was a cherished grandmother to Scott (Sara) Werlinich, Leeann (Corey) Allenbach, Mitchell Haight, Justen Haight, Ethan Haight, Gabriel Scharlott, and Ella Scharlott, and a great-grandmother to Brecken Allenbach, Roen Allenbach, and Scottie Werlinich.
Joan had an active life, always enjoying socializing and entertaining with family and friends. She was a member of and volunteered in various organizations, including the Red Hat Society of Cleveland, Ohio, Central Ohio Numismatic Association (CONA), Mayfield Village Garden Club and Gyrette in Gyro International Cleveland Heights and Powell Clubs. She was an avid tennis player, loved golf, fishing, and gardening, as well as being a talented cook.
A service will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2025 beginning at 1:00 pm followed by a luncheon at Schoedinger Northeast, 1051 East Johnstown Rd. Gahanna, Ohio 43230. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Joan to Capital City Hospice, The Hope Foundation.
