John Michael McCord

John Michael "Mike" McCord, 68, of Columbus, passed away on February 25, 2022. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 3, 1953, to Claude and Edna "Mildred" McCord. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his daughter Erin Lynn McCord, sisters Jane Merz, Jean Bowen, and Luann Goslin; and brothers Jim and Don McCord.

Mike will be remembered as a kind and gentle spirit who was generous and always willing to help others. He gave everything he could offer to let others know they were loved. He was a very humble and thankful man. He enjoyed spending time with his family, celebrating holidays and parties with family and friends, playing with his grandchildren, laughing with others, watching Marvel movies, and set collections of different interests.

Some of his other hobbies included playing disc golf, ping pong, fishing, swimming, watching sci-fi movies, Star Trek, playing video games with family and friends Paintball games (preferably when Paul played), Buckeye games, and the Falcons. In his last few years of life, he enjoyed gathering at Faith Life Church each weekend for service with his son and family. He gave his heart to Christ and was thankful for all the blessings in his life! His most recent job at Janton Co. was Warehouse Management, in which he devoted his full effort and enjoyed investing in other employees and mentoring.

Mike will be greatly missed by his son, Paul (Selina) McCord; grandchildren Kayla, Cowan, Faith, Alyssa, Riley, and Chloe McCord. Other close surviving family members include his brother, Larry (Sandy) McCord; sister-in-law Carole (Jim) McCord; nephews Joe Merz, Jeffrey (Lynette) McCord and children: Aiden, Kaitlyn, and Colin McCord; niece Jennifer (Jason) Lower and children: William and Joshua; and many other nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

Family will receive friends on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 4-7pm for a visitation and remembrance at Schoedinger Northeast Funeral Home, 1051 E Johnstown Rd, Gahanna. A Celebration of Life service will take place Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 10am at Faith Life Church, 2407 Beech Rd NW, New Albany, OH 43054. Family will receive friends at the church at 9am until the start of the service at 10am.
