

Mary Isabelle Busche Lyons, 97, of Columbus, Ohio passed away in her home on February 23, 2022. She was born August 25, 1924 in Akron, Ohio to the late Earl and Carrie (Dye) Busche; also preceded in death by her husband Edward Lyons and infant daughter, Victoria.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Isabelle is survived by her daughters Karen (Jimmy) Bates and Susan (Daniel) Nettler; grandchildren Scott (Melissa) and Eric Bates, Katherine (Justin) Kudela and Jessica (Joseph) Whitehead; great-grandchildren Hunter and Tyler Kudela and Kayla Whitehead.
Isabelle moved from southeastern Ohio to downtown Columbus in 1939. She worked as a beautician and then transitioned to Curtiss-Wright Aviation and the laboratory at Doctors Hospital on 3rd Avenue. In 1953 she married Edward Lyons and moved to East Columbus where she was a member at St. Catharine Parish for nearly 70 years.
Once her children were school-age, she went back to work as a clerk at Betty Ross Cleaners and manager of the Esquire Theater, both of which were within walking distance of her home.
In her retirement she obtained an Associate degree from Columbus State which led her to volunteering at schools and ARC. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her pets.
Until Covid restrictions came into effect, Mary attended the DSCC fitness center regularly where she made a great number of friendships.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am Tuesday, March 1st, at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel, located on the grounds of St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 S. High St., Rte. 23 S., Lockbourne, OH 43137; Fr. Jerry Rodenfels, celebrant. Funeral Reception will follow at 11:30am Tuesday at St. Catharine Church, 500 S. Gould Rd., Columbus, OH 43209.
