Mike was a longtime resident of Gahanna, Ohio and a 1968 graduate of Gahanna Lincoln High School. He served in the U.S. Army and went on to work as an owner-operator and a member of the Teamsters. He could fix anything, loved sharing his knowledge, and was always willing to help.
Mike loved working with both his hands and his mind. He never stopped learning, tinkering, fixing, or thinking. He was a masterful mechanic, a jack-of-all-trades, and someone who truly enjoyed using his heavy equipment to make their home a place the whole family enjoyed.
He spent 55 years married to his best friend, Kathi—a partnership filled with love, whether they were at home or spending their winters in Florida with friends.
He also loved his coffee, chocolate, good books, TV, and keeping up with world events. But more than anything, he loved spoiling his wife, their dog Maggie, the “kids”, and his "babies".
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Kathi, and their children: Michael and his wife Angie (Myers), Jodi (Oakman) and Jimmy (Conkle), and Mindy and her husband Jeff (Tisone). He was a proud and loving “Poppy” to six grandkids: Jared, Lindzi, Jack, Justin, Michael "Mic", and Mya. He is also survived by his sisters, brother, extended family, and many friends.
He’s now reunited with those who passed before him: his parents Jack and Alice Myers, his brother Benny Myers, and his sweet granddaughter Ellie Tisone.
Mike’s life was full of love, laughter, hard work, and heart. He’ll be remembered for his bear hugs, his many talents, his endless knowledge, his conversations, his humor, and the love he gave to everyone around him.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 6, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Schoedinger Northeast (1051 E Johnstown Rd), followed by a procession to Mifflin Cemetery (155 Olde Ridenour Rd) for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service.
