

Born May 18, 1936 to Anthony and Bessie Mae Jones of Thomaston, Georgia. Preceded in death by his mother and father; sister, Ruth Ester (John) Owens, and brother, Fred Douglas Jones.
He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin; a loyal friend and faithful servant. Left to cherish his memory are his loving daughter, Lori (Gary) Granger and bonus daughter, Lesa (Jeffrey) Broady, of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Chase Broady and Courtney Broady, brother Benjamin Jones and sister Barbara Jean Easley of Columbus,Ohio and sister Doris Aimery of Lansing, Michigan; very special friend, Diane Travick, best friend of more than 70 years, William Donaldson; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, dear friends and church family.
His humble heart, exemplary character, steadfast loyalty, and proven reliability was matched only by the undeniable giving spirit that he lovingly shared.
He was a devoted member of Second Baptist Church for more than 25 years, serving faithfully on the Usher Board, including a term as President and awarded “Usher of the Year” for his commitment and dedication; he was also honored with the annual “Man of the Year” award in 2011 and 2018 respectively for his established Godly reputation among his peers, significant contributions to the community, the success of multiple ministries, and the Men’s Fellowship Ministry. Dependable and ever present, he donated his time and treasure to the needs of others; he proudly contributed his expertise as the event photographer for countless church programs and occasions.
A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Milton served with unwavering commitment in Okinawa, Japan; while serving, he was awarded commendations and citations including the National Defense Service Medal. He passionately upheld the distinguished “Always Faithful” promise and tradition of Semper Fidelis. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 37 years of dedicated service in respective roles including vehicle operations management.
A lifetime sports fan, he was devoted to the Cleveland Browns and Cavaliers; his love of the outdoors included fishing for walleye on Lake Erie and enjoying many peaceful years boating in his Bayliner with his lifelong friend, Bill. He was an avid tennis enthusiast, playing in leagues locally and throughout his leisure travel.
He left a legacy of caring and sharing. He was deeply loved. He will be missed every day, but we rejoice knowing he will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
A Homegoing service will be held at 12pm on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Second Baptist Church, 186 N 17th Street, Columbus, Ohio, 43203, with visitation prior from 10-12. Interment will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
