Robert Struthers

Robert Struthers, 71, of Columbus, Ohio died at home on November 19, 2023, surrounded by family, following a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Brooke, children Taylor Struthers (Tim) and Wood Struthers (Holly), stepchildren Sarah Johnson (Sam) and Jack Waddell (Jordan); grandchildren Rae and Blaise Teck, Wood and Finn Struthers, step-grandchildren Olivia and William Johnson. Also, brother Wood Struthers. He is predeceased by father William Struthers, mother Lilly Rex, and sister The Rev. Ann Coburn.

Rob was born on December 18, 1951 in Port Chester, New York and moved to Columbus in 1962. He attended the Columbus Academy and graduated from St. Andrews in Boca Raton, Florida. He received his undergraduate degree from Capital University and Masters degree from Xavier University. Rob spent 35 years at Hayward Distributing Company, retiring in 2013 as Vice President. His passion was people and he inspired many, many patients at the James Cancer Hospital during his 9 years of volunteer work. Rob loved golf, the Blue Jackets, watching his grandsons play ice hockey, bicycling with friends all over Ohio, but especially fishing in Canada. His love for family and friends was unmatched. He had a zest for life and a sense of positivity admired by all.

Visitation will be held at Schoedinger State Street Chapel on Friday, November 24, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to The James Cancer Hospital, 460 West 10th Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43210 or cancer.osu.edu.
