Rosemary Whitt, 84, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by her family on January 31, 2026. She was born on April 26, 1941 in Charleston, West Virginia, and was known to many simply as “Rosi.”
Her family moved to Columbus, Ohio, and she graduated from Holy Rosary Catholic High School in 1958. A year later, she married her high school sweetheart, Patrick Whitt, at St. John’s Church on May 21, 1959. While raising her five children, she also worked as a secretary for Merrill Books, Shremshock, and Yoder Architect. She was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church. She served as a eucharistic minister and OCIA sponsor. Giving back was very important to her and she supported her church, along with Rite for Life and St. Labre Indian School, with countless donations.
She had a deep love for chocolate and never went anywhere without sweets to share. She also had a contagious smile and was always quick to give out compliments.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Alice Butcher; sister, Barbara Davis; and uncle, Fr. Michael Tabit.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Patrick Whitt; daughters Angie (Dennis) Widmayer, Amy (Craig) Rudesill, and Kathy Whitt; sons Michael (Mary) Whitt and Dr. David (Susan) Whitt; nephews Gary (Tammy) Davis and Scott (Amy) Whitt; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
