

Stephen J. Potokar, 60, of Cleveland, passed away on August 22, 2022 after a long battle with multiple sclerosis. He was born in Euclid, Ohio on May 14, 1962 to Edward Potokar, Sr. and Nancy Potokar. In addition to his father, Stephen was preceded in death by his brother, John Potokar.
Stephen will be remembered for his sense of humor, and his ability to maintain a positive attitude despite his health battles. He had many different jobs throughout his life, and acquired many skills as a result. Stephen enjoyed watching sports (especially anything OSU), including football, wrestling, baseball, and golf. He also loved listening to rock bands of the 70s and 80s. Stephen often found comfort reading and re-reading his well-loved Bible.
Stephen will be greatly missed by his mother, Nancy Potokar; siblings Donna (David) Sheidlower, Ed (Michelle) Potokar, Bob (Kristine) Potokar, and Susan Hunter; nephews and nieces Danny (Stephanie), Katy, Anna (Katie), Becky, Jude, Ben, Sam (Erin), Jack, Michael, Sophia, Joshua, and Jude; and great nieces and nephews Jonathan, Elsie, Mia, Evelyn, Zeke, and Lincoln. The family would also like to acknowledge Stephen’s girlfriend, Peggy Pearson and her mother, Angel who have been a tremendous source of love, compassion, and caring throughout Stephen’s many years in the nursing facility.
A Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 10am at ST. MATTHEW THE APOSTLE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 807 Havens Corners Rd, Gahanna, OH 43230. Family and friends are invited to attend a luncheon at church immediately following the Mass. Arrangements entrusted to Schoedinger Northeast.
