

Susan Jane Conaway, 77, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, surrounded by family. Born on October 7, 1947, in Parkersburg, W.V., to Charles and Avis Fitzwater as the youngest among seven siblings. Susan is survived by her son Timothy Conaway (Elizabeth) and daughter Jessica Cooper (Karl); five grandchildren; her brother, Walker Fitzwater, and her sister, Shirley Cofman. Susan dedicated over [35] years of her professional life as a secretary for Baker & Hostetler LLP, where she was known for her grace, loyalty, and unwavering work ethic.
Susan’s greatest joy was her family, to whom she gave her boundless love, time, and affection. She will be remembered for the warmth of her smile, the sparkle in her eyes, and the quiet strength and compassion with which she lived her life. Her selfless spirit and sacrificial dedication to others left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
She was especially known among friends, family, and neighbors for her legendary holiday baking—her coffee cake, holiday candies, and chocolate éclairs became cherished traditions that brought joy to every gathering. From youth into retirement, Susan also loved to dance the jitterbug, filling rooms with laughter and energy that matched her joyful spirit.
A Celebration of Life Service for Susan will be held on Saturday, July 12, at 12:00pm at Schoedinger Northeast Funeral Home, 1051 E Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH 43230. All are welcome to attend and commemorate Susan’s life and legacy.
