It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tinh Thi Pham, who departed this life on June 13, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 86. Born on July 16, 1938, in Thai Binh, Vietnam, Tinh lived a full, vibrant life rooted in love, generosity, and faith.
Tinh was the heart of her family—kind, loving, and always ready with a warm meal. No one ever left her home hungry or without a smile. She loved cooking, fishing, gardening, attending church, enjoying the occasional trip to the casino, and most of all, spending cherished time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her sense of humor, warmth, and radiant generosity touched everyone who had the blessing of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hoang Nguyen; her sons, The Nguyen and Hung Nguyen; her sister, Thai Bui; her brother, Dong Pham; and her parents, Nhu Pham and Dong Pham.
She is survived by her loving children: Tam (Niem) Vo, Tu (D.J.) Dile, Tuyet Nguyen, Cuong (Lynn) Nguyen, Thinh (Michelle) Nguyen, and Vuong (Melanie) Nguyen; her sister, Nhu Hong; 13 grandchildren: Linda, Lisa, and Tony Vo; Derek, Amanda, and Tanner Nguyen; Kaylie,Tyler, and Emily Nguyen; Madison and Cassadi Dile; Lily and Luke Kern; and two adored great-grandchildren, Dylan Vo and Navon Phan.
In 1975, she arrived in the United States as a refugee—with no possessions, no certainty, and eight children looking to her for guidance. Alone but not defeated, she faced every hardship with quiet courage and unshakable devotion.
A single mother with nothing but hope in her heart, she gave everything she had so that her children could have a life she could only dream of. She found strength in struggle and purpose in sacrifice. She worked tirelessly, often putting her own happiness aside so that her children could grow, thrive, and achieve. Her perseverance bore fruit: four of her children graduated from The Ohio State University, a milestone that echoed her deep belief in education and hard work. And her true reward? The enduring closeness of her family.
Today, every one of her surviving children lives within fifteen minutes of her—a living testament to the love and warmth she gave so freely. Her legacy is not just in the degrees, the jobs, or the milestones. It's in the laughter around her dinner table, the values she instilled, and the unbreakable bond she built among her children. She turned struggle into strength, and hardship into a foundation for generations to come. She was more than a mother. She was a builder of dreams, a quiet warrior, and the heart of her family.
