Tom will be remembered as a kind, thoughtful, gentle, and selfless man whose quiet strength and loving nature touched everyone who knew him.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Radarman Second Class aboard the USS Kitty Hawk from October 1963 to October 1967. After his service, Tom built a long and dedicated career with American Electric Power, where he worked for over forty years before retiring.
Never one to sit idle, Tom gave generously of his time and spirit. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, his parish food bank, his daughters’ and grandson’s schools, and within his condo community—always finding ways to lend a helping hand and brighten someone’s day.
Above all else, Tom was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His family was the center of his world. He showed his love through unwavering presence—cheering from the sidelines at games, attending ceremonies and awards banquets, and spending countless hours supporting and encouraging those he loved most.
Tom found joy in life’s simple pleasures: tending to his yard, playing golf, enjoying a friendly game of poker, and tossing or kicking a ball with his beloved grandson. His quiet humor, warm heart, and steadfast devotion will be deeply missed, yet his legacy of love and generosity will live on in all whose lives he touched.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Sheila Beck; and brothers Bob and Larry Beck.
He is survived by his daughters Theresa Beck (Jeff Hurley), Susan Beck-Burkhart, and Karen Beck; sisters Mary Ann (Tom) Hampton and Barb (Clair) Wenger; and grandson Luke Burkhart.
