Tyler was a gentle soul with a deep love for animals—his dog, Orion, was his constant companion. Often called an “animal whisperer,” he had a gift for connecting with creatures of all kinds. Tyler was artistic and creative, finding joy in working with his hands, reading, and spending time outdoors. He loved music, cooking, and helping others. Known for being nonjudgmental and selfless, Tyler was a loyal friend to everyone he met and protective of those he loved most.
He will be dearly missed by his parents, Patrick Von Kaenel and Tracey M. Doctor; sister Nicole (Brady) Monroe; niece Madelyn Monroe; nephew Lucas Monroe; grandmother Kathryn Leavell; uncles John Von Kaenel, Steve Von Kaenel, and Jon (Jenny) Young; aunt, Heather (Paul) Cipriano and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Carolyn A. Foley.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. at Schoedinger Margarum Northeast, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, Ohio 43230. A Memorial service will begin at 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Columbus Humane Society or NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Health) in Tyler’s honor.
