Annie Jo Evans

Annie Jo Evans, a remarkable soul, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. She lived a life adorned with compassion, grace, and unwavering determination. Jo, as many people called her, had an infectious smile and kind heart that touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Jo’s dedication and work ethic were truly exemplary. She spent 37 years as a dedicated employee at Southern Natural Gas Company, where her passion for her work shone brightly. Her tireless eff orts and commitment to excellence were an inspiration to her colleagues. Jo’s impact extended far beyond her professional endeavors, as she was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Jo was a faithful member of Walker’s Chapel Baptist Church.

Jo cherished her family dearly. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, George and Rubel Evans, sister, Helen Wilson, and brothers, O’Neal Evans, Owens Evans, and Donald Evans. Their unwavering love and guidance shaped her into the exceptional person she became. Jo’s memory will forever be carried in the hearts of her surviving family, including her sisters, Nadine Frederick of Hackleburg and Shirley Reeves of Gardendale, sister-in-law Betty Evans or Hamilton, her adoring niece, Misty Sciara, Misty’s husband Frank Sciara, their children, Ella and Sofiya Sciara of Chelsea, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

In honor of Jo’s memory, we kindly request that donations be made to Alzheimer’s of Central Alabama. Your contributions will provide crucial support to individuals and families affected by this challenging condition, helping them find comfort, care, and hope during their journey.

Jo’s legacy will endure as a testament to the power of kindness, resilience, and love. As we bid farewell to this remarkable individual, let us remember her with gratitude and celebrate the beautiful moments we shared with her. May her spirit continue to guide and inspire us in the days to come.

A visitation for Jo will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
