Avern “Buddy” Whaley, age 84 of Mt. Olive, AL passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2015. Buddy served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as a spotter in the heavy artillery infantry. He was also retired from Daniel Ornamental Iron. He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 61 years, Ruby Whaley; two sons, Harold Whaley (Vida) and Mike Whaley (Tammy); a daughter, Myra Reed (Rob); his grandchildren, Ronny Whaley (Amanda), Ryan Whaley, Robyn Whaley Price (Steven), Justin Whaley, Brittany Whaley Weber (Matt), Daniel Whaley (Meredith), Joshua Reed, and Zac Reed; great grandchildren, Presli Whaley, Addison Whaley, John Mark Weber, and Little Daniel Weber.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7th at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 6 until 8 PM. Chapel funeral services will be Friday beginning at 11 AM and followed with interment in Oakwood Memorial Gardens with U.S. Army Military Honors. In lieu of flowers the family ask donations please be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
