Barbara Sue Lynn

Barbara Sue Staggs Lynn, 86, of Alexander City, Alabama, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025. Born on July 21, 1939, in Oakman, Alabama, to the late Edgar and Gertrude Staggs. Barbara's life was defined by her strength, loyalty, and unwavering love for her family and friends. Barbara fought and won battles with cancer and many other health issues, facing them all head on with determination and her strong will.

A fierce and resilient woman, Barbara faced life's challenges with an unbreakable spirit, always coming back stronger from the most difficult circumstances. Her heart was immense, and she was known for being a true and loyal woman, making no distinction between her family and her closest friends—they were all one and the same to her. She was always the first to offer a helping hand to her children and others, never backing away from the most difficult situations. Her devotion was fierce, and her commitment to those she loved was absolute.

Barbara was a master in the kitchen with her cooking and baking skills, and her passion for food was a cornerstone of her life. She found immense joy in the kitchen, and her creations were a testament to her love for her family and all those around her. For Barbara, cookbooks were not just recipes; they told stories to her and she devoured them like others read novels. Barbara’s cookbook collection was proof of how she treasured the stories they provided. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and delicious food, where a simple meal became a gathering of love and comfort. She found great joy in preparing holiday meals for her family, and her door was always open to anyone who wanted to join and share in the special moments.

Barbara is survived by her children, Susan Brewer of Hayden, AL, Richard Lynn of Columbus, GA, and Gina (Bart) Jones of Kellyton, AL; her grandchildren, Ricky (Jamie) DuPriest, Jeremy (Ariel) Lynn, Zachary Lynn, and Kaitlyn Brewer; and her great-grandchildren, Abigail DuPriest, Carson DuPriest, and Brogan Lynn. She is also survived by her brother, Cordell Staggs.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Gertrude Staggs; her brothers, John and Joe Staggs; and most recently her son, Raymond Lynn Jr.

Barbara Lynn requested no formal service to be arranged. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the UAB St. Vincent's Foundation and select Brunos Cancer Center – Birmingham in her honor.
