Billy Joe “B.J.” Walker, age 80 of Attalla, Al and formerly of Birmingham passed away on Tuesday, July 19th, 2016. Mr. Walker proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from 1954-1958. He was also retired from L & N Railroad after many years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Poole Walker; parents, Vernon and Louise Walker; and sisters, Becky Burgett and Perry Lee Wilson. He is survived by his loving family, daughters, Denise Walker Corley (Danny); Meagan Beard (Brandon), and April Walker Merritt (Wade); step-daughter, Mildred M. Greene; his granddaughter, Haleigh Denise Deskins; his beloved companion of 17 years, his golden retriever, Pretty Boy.
A visitation will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Thursday, July 21st from 5 until 8 PM and followed by graveside services at Pawnee Baptist Cemetery beginning at 10 AM on Friday. Brother Tony Mitchell will officiate.The family would like to especially thank Gentiva Hospice, the Visiting Angels Home Health Care Service; and his special caregiver, Leslie Tidwell.
