

He was the first child of Raymond & Charlene (Finch) Woods born on January 23, 1955 in Birmingham, AL. He was a 1973 graduate of Jones Valley High School. He worked at ACIPCO from 1973-1987, where he was given his nickname. He was retired from The U. S. Postal Service after 30 years. He was also retired from the American Postal Workers Union, AFL-CIO after 20 years as a National Business Agent. He was elected to this passion in 2001 and retired in 2021. He would tell others he waited years to get a job he loved doing. He enjoyed arbitrating cases that helped righting wrongs that had been done to employees. He enjoyed helping others and teaching classes with the APWU. Billy enjoyed traveling, golf, fishing and spending time with his wife and family. Especially his three grandsons. They were his buddies.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Barry Woods, and the love of his life, best friend and wife of 48 years Linda (Weaver) Woods.
He was survived by one daughter, Dr. Lisa Woods Williams (Doug) and one Son, Steven Ray Woods (Elise); three grandsons, Luke Ray Woods, Ethan Andrew Harris, and Jacob Matthew Harris; one sister, Brenda Woods Bjurman (Alan); Sister-in-law Lei Anne Woods; several nieces and cousins and many friends.
Billy was always smiling and always has a positive word to say about everyone. He will be greatly missed by all.
Services for Billy will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, Gardendale, Alabama with a time of visitation to begin at 1:00pm; funeral service at 2:00pm, followed by his interment in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, AL.
