Bobbie Goodwin Whitaker, age 77, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Pinson and formerly employed at Alabama Power Company. Visitation will be held at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 12 noon with the service to follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. She was the daughter of the late Iva Self Goodwin and Dewey E. Goodwin. Preceded in death by her husband, James R. Whitaker, daughter, Teresa Swann, son Ricky Swann and sister Glenda Bice. Survivors include: brother Wayne Goodwin, sister Gail Mathews and special brother-in-law, James Bice; daughter Carol Parsons (Randy), son Mike Whitaker (Katherine); nine grandchildren Billy, Dustin, Alex, Jessica, Joey, Michelle, Megan, Sasha and Christian; 4 great-grandchildren, Cory, Skylar, Mayer and Joey; several special nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
