Christopher Douglas Goodyear, 57, of Navarre, Florida, passed away on August 26, 2024 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Chris was born on December 10, 1966, to Robin and Joann Goodyear in St. Charles, Missouri.
He is preceded in death by his brother Ryan Goodyear; his grandparents, Kenneth and Gertrude Northrup, and Richard and Edna Goodyear. He is survived by his loving wife Angie Goodyear and his parents Robin and Joann Goodyear; as well as his children and their spouses, Amanda and Jacob Hauer, Johnathan and Rebecca Plowman; and his grandchildren Neveah, Bryant, and Ainsley Hauer, and Peyton and Bodhii Plowman.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Chris proudly served in the United States Army as a Tank Operator. After his time in the service, he found pride in his work as the owner of Emerald Shores Home Services & the head of maintenance at Navarre Towers.
Family was everything to Chris, if he was not working you would find him on the water or with his grandchildren working in his shop or having a dance party with them. His commitment to his family was unwavering and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Navarre Towers for their compassion and support during this difficult time, and to the UAB Cancer Center and Palliative Care Team for their efforts in easing Chris's pain and providing comfort in his final days.
Chris's spirit, kindness, and love will be remembered fondly by all his friends and family. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, warmth, and the enduring strength of his character.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Chris’ Life will begin at 2:00 pm with George Weeks officiating. Immediately following the service he will be laid to rest at Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
