Clarence Benjamin Boyd, of Gardendale, Alabama, was born in Arkadelphia, Alabama on December 5, 1930 to Charlie and Cynthia Boyd. After a lengthy battle with dementia, he passed away on February 27, 2020 at the age of 89.
Mr. Boyd served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed by City Federal Savings and Loan for over twenty years. He treasured his family and loved the outdoors. He had a dry sense of humor and a wonderful smile. He will be dearly missed by his family and his coffee drinking group at McDonald’s.
Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Cynthia Boyd and his siblings, William, Marvin, Johnny, Bess, Mabel, and Ruth,
Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife of 59 ½ years, Janie Merrell Boyd; a daughter, Dianne Laughlin; a son, DeWayne Boyd and his wife Denise; three grandsons, Mason Rodgers, Zachary Boyd, and Landon Boyd; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with a time of visitation to begin at 2:00pm; funeral service at 3:00pm followed by his burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, Alabama.
