

David Frank “BIG DAVE” Box, age 58 passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2016. “Big Dave” was an amazing and deeply devoted husband, family man, and friend who always put everyone’s needs before his own. He was never selfish of giving any of his time to the needs of others. He was truly a remarkable person who will be missed by everyone who knew him. Dave was a graduate of Gardendale High School and worked for the Jefferson County Board of Education Transportation Department for the past 13 years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR on Sunday afternoons, spending time working in his gardens, and taking care of his 6 chickens. Big Dave was a strong Christian man who loved his Lord and attended NorthPark Baptist Church.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, Frank Box and a brother, Ricky Box. He is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Box who will love and miss him forever; his sons, Ross Williams (Vanessa) and the “light of his life”, Cameron Williams; a daughter, Elise Williams (Jeremy Nolan); his mother, Laura Morton (Gary); sister, DeeDee Edwards (Randy); sister-in-law, Lisa Cunningham; his “pride and joy” grandchildren, Jon David Gilbert, Olivia Nolan, and Lilly Kate Nolan; a niece, Ivey Box; and his wonderful cat, COOKIE.
Services will be held on Friday, February 5th at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel at 11 AM with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale. Rev. Bubba Leonard will officiate. “Big Dave” will always be remembered and loved FOREVER!
