Donald Max Shipp, age 75 of Corner, AL passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015. He was a graduate of Corner High School and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served as an active Deacon for 51 years. He retired from BBOA Basketball where he served as an official for more than 25 years. Donald was also retired from Forestwood Farm, Inc. He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 55 years, Ruth Hardman Shipp; his two sons, Kerry Shipp (Lynn) and Kevin Shipp (Kelly); two grandchildren, Laura DaLee (Corey) and Jackson Shipp; two great grandchildren, Brooklynn and Samantha DaLee; two sisters, Frances Moody and Janice Wisener; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
A visitation is planned for Monday, May 25th, at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 6 until 8 PM. Services will be Tuesday, May 26th at Mt. Zion Baptist Church beginning at 11 AM. He will lie in state at the church from 10 until 11 AM. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Corner, AL. In lieu of flowers the family request gifts be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church Building Fund, 2427 Corner Road, Warrior, AL 35180.
