

Don was born in Heflin where he also attended high school. Don was a member of the Army National Guard. He loved all sports and excelled at many. He played softball for Budweiser and his team won several National Championships. Don loved everything about Auburn. He loved football and basketball. Don worked for Toshiba and had to travel to Japan where he absolutely hated the food. He later worked security for the City of Homewood Park and Recreation. Don was a resident of Gardendale. Don was a great cook, and you haven’t had steak until you’ve had steak cooked by Don.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Marcelle Cochran Waldrep and James Waldrep. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sheila Douglas Waldrep, two brothers, Eddie (Brenda) and Jerry (Joy), one sister, Teresa Griffin (Ben), Sister-in-law, Joyce Franklin (Mike). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Don especially loved his nieces and nephew that either lived with him or visited all the time, Kaily, Kamryn and Gunner. Don is survived by so many friends, Phillip and Jane Jones, Donna Mallard, Larry and Paula Boone, Randy and Cyndy McDuffie, and Earl Criswell, and too many more to mention.
The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words and prayers. A special thank you to everyone at Good Springs Baptist Church. He loved each and every one of you. Especially Miss Sue.
