Dorothy a resident of Birmingham went home to be with the Lord at the age of 86. She was a member of New Georgia Baptist Church. She owned Underwood Grocery on Lewisburg Road. She was a sweet, loving, Christian wife, and mother who never met a stranger. She will be greatly missed by those who are left to morn her passing; her sons, Charles Underwood (Bobbie) and David Underwood (Janet); a daughter, Virginia Brown; grandchildren, Ginger Belvin, Tammy Crawford, Kelly Thompson, Sam, Chuck, Brandon and Matt Underwood; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; numerous other family members and a host of friends.
Services will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with a visitation on Wednesday, August 6, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm and a funeral service Thursday, August 7 at 11:00am followed by her burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
