Dorothy Jean Young

Throughout her life, Dorothy was a beloved presence—someone whose gentle spirit and kind-hearted nature made others feel welcomed and at ease. Her compassion showed in the simple, steady ways she cared for those around her, and she carried herself with a warmth that was often reflected in the smile she so readily shared.

A devoted member of Gardendale First Baptist Church, Dorothy found meaning in faith and community. She was also an avid reader, drawn to quiet moments with a good book, and she delighted in the beauty of everyday life—whether spending time at the beach or tending to her garden with patient care. In these cherished interests, many saw the same tenderness and thoughtfulness that defined her life.

Dorothy Jean Young is survived by her children, Michael Young, Jennifer Young, Patrick (Amy) Young; grandchildren, Kendall Young, Brandon Young, Lacey Grace Patterson (Luke); and great-grandson, Scotty Patterson.

Dorothy Young leaves behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and compassion—qualities that will be remembered and honored in the hearts of those who loved her.
