Of Gardendale, AL. He was born in Atlanta, GA, and he was called home to Heaven Friday at the age of 75. He served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Berlin, Germany for a number of years. He worked at Flowers Baking Company for 18 years and then began his career in the car business at Ed Mollison Chevrolet for 12 years with great success. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Elbert and Kathryn Elizabeth Horton and a sister, K. Bainbridge. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Mary Nell Foster Horton; four children, Donna Acton of Grayson Valley, Dale Horton (Shelly) of Helena, Carolyn Pruden (Alan) of West Jefferson, and Susan Rice (Keith) of Gardendale; grandchildren, Michael Pruden, Tiffany Rice Carter (Jamie), Valerie Pruden Campbell (Trent), Blake Acton, Ashley Rice, Coby Rice, Tavie Juarez, Hunter Taylor, Skyler Horton and Zachary Horton; great grandchildren, Sawyer James Alexander and Ivey Lou Cambell; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. PawPaw will be greatly missed and cherished. The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Joaquin Arcienagas for his wonderful care and concern. Thank you all for your prayers during this difficult time.
A visitation will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Monday, March 10 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm with a funeral service Tuesday at 1:00pm. Interment will follow in the Clanton City Cemetery, Clanton AL.
