Eddie Ruth Owens

Eddie Ruth Owens, age 73, of Springville, AL passed away peacefully on Monday, October 4th at home with her husband and daughter at her side. She was the loving wife of George Allen Owens for 43 years.

Ruth was born in Birmingham, Alabama on November 6, 1947. She attended Phillips High School. Ruth married the love of her life on September 16, 1978, and had one daughter, Edna Elizabeth (Beth). She worked for 30 years in the auto service industry as an underwriter. After retirement, Ruth worked in the gift shop at St. Vincent's East for 9 years. She loved meeting and talking with everyone that shopped there, as well as the nurses and hospital staff.

Ruth loved her family, and being Nana to her 3 grandchildren. She also loved her fur baby, Madeline. Ruth enjoyed traveling in their camper on vacations to the beach and mountains. She loved reading, and anything related to horses. Ruth was described as very friendly, sweet, funny lady. Her smiling face will be greatly missed.

Eddie Ruth Owens is preceeded in death by her parents, Edna Perryman and Don Garrison.

She is survived by her loving husband, George Owens; daughter Beth Smith (Brian); 3 grandchildren, Kinsley, Charlie, Sam; many neices and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel Funeral Home, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL, 35071, with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Oakwood Memorial Gardens immediately following,.
