Frank Dove

Frank proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism while participating in aerial flight. After his military service, he built a long and respected career as a diesel and helicopter mechanic, a profession that reflected both his technical talent and his steady, dependable nature.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Dove; his mother, Hattie Greer Dove; his brothers, Charles Dove, Paul Dove, Gene Dove and Walter Dove; his sisters, Billie Durbin, Eva Magro and Lula Teston; his beloved wife, Ruth Whitlock Dove; his daughters, Vicki Dove Lewis, Paula Dove, Lori Dove, and Terrie Dove; and his granddaughter, Michelle Lewis.

Frank is survived by his daughter, Amy (Douglas) Reno; his son-in-law, Michael (Cheryl) Lewis, Sr.; grandchildren, Chrissy (Larry) Bingham, Michael (Jennifer) Lewis, Jr., and Kayleigh Vines; and great-grandchildren, Gavin Bingham, Tyler Bingham, Alyssa Bingham, Grayson Lewis, Lucy Lewis, Abrahm Lewis, and Haddie Lewis. His family will remember him for his strength, his humor, and the deep love he carried for those closest to him.

Service Information:

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Gardendale Ridout’s Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Chapel Service at 12:00 p.m.

Interment will follow at Walker Chapel Memorial Gardens, 1200 Ellard Rd, Fultondale, AL 35068.
