George worked as a crane operator with the Operating Engineers, Local 312. He enjoyed watching sports, especially Alabama football. He was our “Mr. Fix-it”, he was very crafty and could fix anything. He loved being surrounded by his children.
George was preceded in death by one son, Troy Allen Grooms and his parents, Jesse Kinloch Grooms and Nancy Jane Box Grooms.
George is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ann Thomas Grooms; three children, Jerri (Randy) Dean, Deb (Scott) Stark, and T.W. (Tina) Grooms; grandchildren, Brianna (Jermaine) Barber-Mixon, Jake (Jamie) Grooms, Brittney Barber, Josh Grooms, Jessica Dean, Noah Grooms, and Carson Dean; great grandchildren, Aidan Mixon, Kylie Bryant, and Jase Grooms; brothers, William Kinloch (Gail) Grooms and Ray Eugene Grooms; several other family members and a host of friends.
Celebration of Life Visitation will be at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Thursday, October 24, 2019 from 12:00 noon until 2:00pm, followed by a graveside service in Providence Cemetery, off New Castle Road.
