James D. “Jimmy” Henley Jr., age 72, of Gardendale passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016. He loved his family and friends. He also loved sports and was a fan for the University of Alabama football. For years he was an umpire for both baseball and basketball. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlotte; daughter, Tammy Henley Castro (Alan); son, Terry J. Henley (Lindsey); grandchildren, Lauren Castro, Nico Castro, and Noah Henley; sisters, Donna Lindsey (Edward), and Janis Weems; brother, John Henley (Sandi); aunts, Mildred Hedgecock and Sarah Elkins; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James D. Henley; mother, Annie Easley Henley; and brother, Dale Henley. Visitation will be Friday, November 4, 2016 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 1:00 PM until service time at 3 PM. Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale. Rev. Mark Harrison will be officiating. Memorials may be made to the Gardendale’s First Baptist Church.
