

James attended Bradford Elementary School and graduated from Mortimer Jordan High School. He proudly
served the United States of America in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict and was awarded the Gallantry Cross for acts of valor. He retired from CSX Transportation after 38 years of service as a Conductor.
James joined Enon Baptist Church on October 21, 1984 and was baptized on April 7, 1985 and enjoyed singing in the choir. He loved Alabama football and was all about sports, and he loved his family dearly.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Gracie Sullivan; son, Justin Sullivan; brother, Johnny Sullivan, Jr.; sisters, Ima Jewel Sullivan and Emma Crocket.
James is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Carol Sullivan; four children, Troy Sullivan (Donna), Stacy Graves (Tony), Todd Sullivan, and Jared Sullivan (Allison); one brother, Gerald Sullivan; two sisters, Delilah Sheridan and Teresa Williams; eight grandchildren, Stone Sullivan (Breanna), Samantha Sullivan, Bailey Graves (Jordan), Brandy Graves, Haidyn Sullivan, Holden Sullivan, Bentley Sullivan, and Shepherd Sullivan; two great grandchildren, Parker and Samuel "Stone" Sullivan.
Services for James will be held at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL, on Friday, March 7, 2025 with a time of visitation beginning at 9:00 AM; funeral service at 10:00 AM.
James will be laid to rest in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, AL.
