Janie Merrell Boyd

Janie found her greatest joy in family and grandchildren, holding close the people who mattered most and offering steady love and care throughout her life. She also enjoyed needlecrafts, reading, cooking, collecting cookbooks, and working jigsaw puzzles—simple pleasures that reflected her patient spirit and the warmth she brought to everyday moments.

Janie Sue Merrell Boyd is survived by her children, DeWayne Boyd (Denise) and Dianne Tarwater (Ron); grandchildren, Mason Rodgers, Zach Boyd, and Landon Boyd. She is predeceased by her husband, Clarence Boyd; parents, Owen Edison Merrell and Johnnie Merrell; brother, Louise Edward Merrell; as well as a host of additional family members.

Visitation will be held at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Hwy, Gardendale, Alabama 35071, on March 7, 2026, beginning at 10:00 am. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel on March 7, 2026, beginning at 11:00 am.

Final resting place will be at Oakwood Memorial Gardens, 2100 Moncrief Road, Gardendale, Alabama 35071, on March 7, 2026.
