John went home to his Lord and Savior the morning of Thursday, December 31, 2020. He loved his family dearly, and was grateful to have seen and visited with numerous loved ones in the days preceding him going to his eternal home.
He was so proud of his children and grandchildren, and wanted to experience their life events as often as he could - from ball games to baby showers. He was there with a smile, and words of praise and encouragement. And Pop Pop / Paw Paw did always give the tightest hugs.
John graduated from Tarrant High School in 1962. He joined the United States Navy shortly after high school, and was honorably discharged from active duty in 1965. John was later employed by the United States Postal Service, and faithfully served his patrons with dedication and excellence for decades until his retirement.
John spent many hours volunteering his time at church, doing whatever needed to be done. He also took great pride in keeping his yard manicured, and enjoyed his time outside, even if it was just “piddlin’”.
John also certainly had a sweet tooth, with his most favorite treats being anything chocolate. He’d also never turn down an opportunity for some ice cream with those he loved.
We mourn, not for John, because we have confident assurance that he is rejoicing in heaven with those that have gone before him. Instead we mourn for our loss, knowing that we must wait patiently to see him again when we too have been called to our eternal home by Jesus.
John finished his race with endurance, giving all glory to God for the blessings he had been given. May we all run our race to the end as he did.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Wilma Aaron; and his sister Janet Aaron Layton. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Betty Carroll Aaron; sisters Joan Aaron Vickers, Linda Aaron Sewell; brother Mike Aaron; his daughters Andrea Aaron Nichols, Melanie Aaron Plumb, Cindy Davis Jessup; son Greg Davis; as well as 10 grandchildren and one soon-to-be great granddaughter.
The family would like to thank the staff at Journey Hospice for their work and compassion.
Celebration of life services for John will be held Monday, January 4, 2021 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 AM, service at 11:00 AM, followed by his burial at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, 1591 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, Alabama 35235.
