I miss him and our trips on the back roads of Belize, Mexico and Guatemala.  We also tipped a few at Destin Lounge ,Norms and the Upper Deck.

Almost 50 years ago, I met John and from that time on we became closer and closer friends. We traveled together, we sailed together, we did everything together for almost 50 years. Just to say I’m going to miss him is unfathomable. i We traveled to a lot of places and did a lot of things. We started sailing in the Gulf of Mexico and from there, throughout the Caribbean and into the Pacific. You name it, we’ve been there and had great fun doing it. John‘s favorite saying was "listen Woodard, if you do this then this will happen". Thank goodness I didn’t follow that advice very often. I could just about write a book on every country we’ve been in and all the things we did while we were there.
To say I’m going to miss him is ridiculous. It's like a part of me is missing. At least I have the memories that will last a lifetime.

John was always there like a rock for the people he loved and the people he served. He will be missed. Go with God John.

John retired from the Birmingham Police Dept. a few years before I  was hired. Our paths would cross  through the Fraternal Order of Police Birmingham Lodge . John never forgot his brothers and sisters in blue. He was always there with helpful advice and guidance even at his great age. I will greatly miss him and those late night calls . I’m blessed to have known him , been his friend and he mine.  Our travels together will forever be fond memories.                   

If John was your friend you had a friend for life. He will be missed,

Uncle John always included me in all of his travels from a kid till now. Been all over central America with him, sometimes at some real odd places. But I always felt safe. He was great to me. Loved the Mexican joint in fultondale.  Spent many days with him there talking old stories.  Love u John like a father. U will be missed.

Always knew where you stood with John!  I truely enjoyed working around him and Ed both, and they always knew what to do and how to do it when action was needed.  
I always enjoyed talking to John when I would see him around after he had retired.  One super great Police Officer and one super great man.  RIP John, We will miss you until we meet again.

Growing up I was blessed to have 3 Big Brothers who were my Role Models, and and my Heroes. They showed me the ropes and they keep me out of trouble. They set the bar high for me to try to emulate.    I lost my first Big Brother 26 years ago and now I’ve lost my second Big Brother …. and am devastated once again. 

 Ed, hang tough my Brother, hang tough.  You’ve got many more ropes to show me.  Scott and Will, I know how proud John was of you.   Your Dad was one of the good guys and you were blessed to have him as your Father.    Stand tall guys and above all remember the proud, strong, good man he was and the legacy that he left you.   Peace. 

Sorry to learn about my friend.
We played football together in high school at Woodlawn and he dated my sister a couple of times. John owned a security company and worked for me many times.He was a great police officer and I always felt safe when around him. He will be missed .

One great man and a great Police Officer!!  I would follow him into Hell. There were times
that we thought we were there! Could not go wrong with either of the Cousins in hazardous situations. He will be missed!
