

Joseph Edward King, age 91, went to be with the Lord on April 28, 2018. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 63 years, Juanita King, his dear friend Audrey Maxine Sanders (Pam, Myles) his beloved son John H. King (Jeanie), precious granddaughter Rachel King, 6 brothers and 3 sisters. Survivors include his son Kenneth D. King (Paulette), his daughter Anita Nesteruk (Al), 2 grandsons, Jonathan King (Kim) and Stefan Hegg (Caroline), Granddaughter Aliese Rosado, four great-grandchildren (Austin, Justin, Baileigh and Connor), numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Mr. King was born in Parrish, Alabama October 3, 1926 and graduated from Blount County High School. He served with distinction in the U. S. Marine Corps in WWII and in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from the City of Birmingham with 23 years of service as an electrician. He was also an ordained Methodist minister serving for 20 years, proudly proclaiming the gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Mr. King and his late wife, Juanita, retired to Gardendale, AL and enjoyed being a part of the Church Family as an faithful member of the Gardendale Church of the Nazarene. A celebration of his life service will be held on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 11:00 am at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with the family receiving friends from 10:00 am till 11:00 am at the funeral home. Mr. King will be laid to rest with a graveside military service at Forest Crest Cemetery immediately following the funeral. The family ask that in lieu of flowers please perform a random act of kindness in honor of Mr. King.
