Joyce T. Batton, age 88 passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016. Joyce was a resident of the Hayden community for many years and was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who was very much loved and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband of well over 50 years, William M. Batton and her parents, Ermon and Gladys Thorton. She is survived by a son, Richard Martin Batton (Reba) and her daughter, Rebecca Batton Thompson; Grandchildren, Jana Batton Duke (Jeff), William Martin Batton II (Thy), Kristen Thompson Armstrong (Kevin), and Melissa Thompson Pasley (Justin); Great Grandchildren, Jacob, Jayden, Jonah, Remi, Austin, and Mila.
A visitation will be held Thursday, August 25th at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 10 until 11 AM with graveside services to follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery beginning at 11:30 AM. Dr. Sammie Reid will officiate.
