He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years and 10 months, Norma Chambers; daughter, Carol Sherrill; son, Daryl Chambers; grandchildren, Joel Chambers (Jamie), Jaclyn Sherrill Tighe (Randy), Joshua Chambers (Robin), and James Chambers (Joanna); numerous nieces and nephews; great-grandchildren, Gage Tighe, Tanner Tighe, Adam Chambers and Lucy Chambers.
He is preceded in death by his brothers; Herman Chambers, Pearl Lammon Chambers, Herman Chambers Jr., Bobby Joe Chambers, and Donald Ray Chambers.
He served in the army for 9 months and retired from the Birmingham News in 1993 and was a member of Local Union IBEW 136 for 55 years. He was a member of the Baptist Faith and loved the Lord.
