Katherine E. Little

Katherine Self Little, age 93, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024. She was born on August 1, 1931, to Milton and Gertrude Self. Katherine was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Harley E. “Pat” Little; her parents, Milton and Gertrude Self; five brothers, R.C. Self, Don Wayne Self, Milford Self, Elzie Self, and Bud Self; and her grandchildren, Jeremy and Kristin Rowell.

She is survived by her brother, C.D. Self; her four children, Kathy (Terry) Rowell, Kelly (Debbie) Little, Lee Ann (Mark) Williams, and Candy (Jamie) Pugh; seven grandchildren, Betsy Massey, Jacqueline Zdrojowy, Abby Jessup, Nathan Little, Patrick Williams, Matthew Williams, and Christopher Williams; seventeen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.

Katherine graduated from Minor High School in 1949 and married the love of her life, Harley “Pat” Little, on April 29, 1948. She later attended cosmetology school and became a licensed beautician. Her passion for fashion led her to a successful career at Parisian’s, where she sold clothing—one of her favorite things in life.

A devoted member of Hillview Baptist Church for 67 years, Katherine lived a life full of faith, love, and kindness. Her artistic talents were many; she enjoyed oil painting and table scaping, and she had a special fondness for decorating during the holidays. Katherine’s warm, inviting spirit and joyful nature made her a beloved presence to all who knew her.

Katherine’s kitchen was the heart of her home, where her family gathered for holiday meals filled with laughter, love, and delicious food. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and her life was marked by her unwavering love for her family, her strong faith, and her deep devotion to those she held dear.

Katherine will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A visitation for Katherine will be held Friday, November 8, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.

Katherine will be laid to rest in Mount Olive Cemetery, 3201 Mount Olive Road, Mount Olive, AL.
