

Leo McGoogan a veteran of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam passed away March 21 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Leo was born August 18, 1923 to Delonie and Mamie McGoogan and attended Lewisville high school before joining the United States Air Force Leo was awarded a Purple Heart for actions in Europe, he flew 57 mission in the nose of a B-24 as a nose gunner in WWII. He retired from the USAF as a Chief Master Sergeant on January 31, 1970. After the service he went on to hold multiple jobs as a electronic engineer, he finally retired at age 86. Leo was preceded in death by his parents and sister. Leo is survived by his wife Pam, Daughter Kristy (Larry) Curd, Gwen Jones, Grand Children Ashland (Terrance) Lucas, Krista (Devin) Ward, Alex Curd. Brad(Anissa) Matheson. Great-Grand Child Scarlett Rose Lucas, his twin brother Leon (LeAnne) McGoogan and host of nieces and nephews. Leo was a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather. His family will receive friends and visitors at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Sunday March 27th from 3pm-5pm with a few words from the Pastor at 4:30, Military Honors will be given on Monday March 29th at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo at 10am.
